I'm planing to go to Hanoi in December for maybe 2 months and go to Laos by land after. Is it possible to enter Vietnam with one-way ticket ?

Could you please tell me if I would require a return ticket or proof of onward travel if I'm arriving from South Africa on a 3 month tourist visa, I plan to be in Vietnam for around 2 months but am not sure exactly what date I will be leaving , thank you.
