e-visa from Hong Kong Airport

Hi,

I'm an Irish citizen but I will be travelling from Hong Kong to Vietnam, and Hong Kong isn't listed as a country for the evisa. Is the visa linked only to my passport i.e. it only matters where I'm a citizen (Irish), and does it make any difference from what country I fly from to Vietnam (e.g. Hong Kong)?
