I plan to visit Vietnam in middle of July 2019, but the passport expires at end of November 2019. I read on Internet that with Australian passport, only one month validity is needed upon entry, please can you confirm.

Your passport must be valid at least 6 months upon the arrival day to Vietam then you can apply visa online with us.
