I'm going to enter Vietnam at end of May 2016. I will work for British Council for June and July teaching English. I will leave Vietnam middle of August. My passport expires October 3rd, 2016. Is my passport valid to get a visa to enter Vietnam?

We would like to inform that in this case, you should contact with the airline to ask if you are allowed to board the plane or not. If they say yes, you can get visa with your current passport. If no, you need to renew your passport
