I'm currently travelling around Thailand. I was hoping to visit Vietnam for 3weeks but I will be travelling through Laos by land not air in order to reach Vietnam. Do I require a visa? If so how do I require one and how long would it take. I would be hoping to enter Vietnam on 09/10/16.

It is informed that UK do not need Vietnam visa for 15 days. But the previous visit must be far 30 days the next visit.
In your case, if you will stay in Vietnam 3 weeks, you should apply visa. Please be noted that we only provide visa on arrival which you will get visa at Vietnam airport. So please contact to Vietnam Embassy in Thailand where you're travelling to get visa if you will reach Vietnam by land.
