i am indian passport holder.,studying in usa ,have usa visa on passport .,
since i already have usa visa on passport my friends told me i don't need visa or can get visa on arrival., no need to apply on line., or at embassy.,
please clarify.,

As you are holding India passport, you need to get visa for Vietnam. You can get visa on arrival , but you need to apply online first. As when you apply online, you will have a visa approval letter. With this letter, you can board the plane and get visa stamp directly at Vietnam airport.
