Khanh Hoa to expand nighttime economy to boost tourism

Posted by Vietnam-Evisa.Org on Jul 05, 2023

The central province of Khanh Hoa, home to beach towns Nha Trang and Cam Ranh, has approved plans to allow entertainment and shopping to continue until late at night.

Authorities propose to designate pedestrians-only streets, set up food courts and beach bars and pubs, organize entertainment shows, and call on malls and other large retail places to remain open until midnight.

There will be more night-time entertainment along the beaches in Nha Trang, Cam Ranh and Nhu Tien.

Authorities would consider allowing inland waterway cruise ships to operate until 11 p.m. every day.

Khanh Hoa is not the only locality in Vietnam seeking to develop the nighttime economy, and other popular tourist destinations like Hanoi, HCMC, Ha Long, and Can Tho in fact already offer entertainment and cultural and shopping experiences until late at night.

In the first six months of 2023, Khanh Hoa received over 2.78 million visitors, an increase of 165% year-on-year. They included more than 780,000 foreign visitors.
