According to Wanderlust Storytellers, Mu Cang Chai in Yen Bai tops their list of 25 destinations with surreal beauty. "Mu Cang Chai is one of the seemingly non-existent places in the world because of its rare beauty. This is one of our favorite destinations and will definitely become one of your favorite destinations too!" commented Wanderlust Storytellers.

Renowned as one of Vietnam's most beautiful locales, Mu Cang Chai is famous for its breathtaking terraced fields. These fields are a vibrant emerald green during the growing season and transform into a shimmering golden hue when the rice ripens.

Through the skillful hands and tireless creativity of local farmers, these terraces form a dynamic landscape that evolves with the seasons, showcasing the harmony between nature and humanity.

Wanderlust Storytellers praises the serene, dreamlike scenes and the incredible natural wonders that make our Earth truly magical. These destinations offer visitors experiences akin to stepping into a shimmering, enchanted world.

The British newspaper Telegraph also recognized Mu Cang Chai's terraced fields, listing them among the 12 most beautiful in the world in 2018. Mu Cang Chai was one of two Vietnamese representatives on this list.

In 2007, 330 hectares of these terraced fields in the three communes of La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha, and De Xu Phinh were designated as National Monuments by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In 2019, they were further honored as a Special National Monument by the Prime Minister.

Mu Cang Chai’s terraced fields are the perfect harmony of the power of solidarity, the beauty of nature, and the creativity of highland people who have blended in with nature to sustain life for generations.

In Mu Cang Chai, the flood season lasts from May to June, when fields are prepared and planted, while September and October are the harvest season. These periods offer different charms to visitors. While during flood season, you can see the landscape transforming into a mix of brown soil, white clouds, blue sky, and sparkling water; in harvest season, the terraced fields seem much more vibrant, shimmer like gold under the sunlight.
