Vietnam Airports: Among the Globe's 50 most internationally connected airports

According to U.K. travel data company OAG, the 50 airports with the most international connections are Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi. This demonstrates how Vietnam is becoming a more popular tourism destination on a worldwide scale.

The comparison of the number of scheduled connections to and from international flights with the total number of locations served by the airport resulted in the rankings.

Following an examination of flight data from the 100 busiest airports in the world, OAG revealed that the southern hub Tan Son Nhat rose three spots from the previous ranking in 2019 to take up position 40, while its sibling in the northern capital rose 15 spots to take up position 46.

Tan Son Nhat is the busiest airport in Vietnam, handling over 40 million passengers in 2022. It is a major hub for Vietnam Airlines and other Vietnamese carriers, and offers direct flights to over 60 destinations around the world. Since 2017, Tan Son Nhat airport has been operating at almost 100,000 passengers per day on average, or 36 million passengers annually, above its 25 million annual capacity.

Noi Bai is the second busiest airport in Vietnam, handling over 20 million passengers in 2022. It is also a major hub for Vietnam Airlines and other Vietnamese carriers, and offers direct flights to over 40 destinations around the world. Noi Bai airport can accommodate 25 million people annually.
