Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi attracts record number of visitors

The Vietnam Military History Museum, located in Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi, with over 150,000 artifacts and four National Treasures opened on November 1.

On November 10, the Vietnam Military History Museum saw a record-breaking 40,000 visitors, a number comparable to the busiest day at the Louvre Museum in France.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Lan Huong, head of the museum's Propaganda and Education Department, noted that on previous days, the museum typically welcomed between 20,000 and 30,000 visitors.

The 40,000 visitors on November 10 were nearly equal to the Louvre's busiest day in 2019, which saw 45,000 visitors. That year, the Louvre set a record with nearly 10 million visitors, according to Afar.

This new museum's large outdoor spaces, featuring vivid exhibits like airplanes and tanks, make it a popular weekend destination for families. Free admission and extensive media promotion also contribute to its popularity. Visitors include veterans, families with young children, teenagers, and tourist groups.

Built by the Ministry of National Defense in Hanoi since 2019, the museum spans 386,600 square meters. It houses over 150,000 artifacts, including four national treasures and many valuable items.

The museum's architecture not only showcases war history but also provides a space for visitors to engage with the struggle for national independence by the heroic Vietnam People's Army.

The museum employs modern display methods, including 3D mapping sand table technology, information screens, photo media, automatic audio guides, and QR codes for artifact information. Over 60 video clips introduce military campaigns, battles, and historical figures, offering visitors a unique experience.

The Vietnam Military History Museum is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on Mondays and Fridays. Free admission is available from November 1 until the end of December 2024.
