Why Was the New Vietnam E-visa Policy Approved?
On the morning of June 24, the National Assembly approved amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Entry, Exit, and Transit Situation and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam. After that, this policy is effective August 15, 2023.
Accordingly, the electronic visa (e-visa) duration will be increased from 30 to 90 days. During their visa validity, foreigners can arrive and leave Vietnam several times without applying for a new visa. The government has decided to issue e-visas to all foreign arrivals at 42 ports of entry.

Thus, there have been huge changes in the E-Visa policy, promising to bring a lot of potential.
Why was this policy approved?
The government recognized the limitations of the old E-Visa policy, such as its short validity (30 days), single entry, and the fact that only 80 countries can apply for E-Visa. This will limit Vietnam's tourism and economic potential, creating many disadvantages and inconveniences for foreign visitors coming here.
So after a period of discussion and voting, on August 15, 2023, the new E-Visa policy was approved, opening a new step for not only the E-Visa industry but also the aviation industry, tourism, and the entire Vietnam economy.
How has this new policy helped Vietnam's economy?
The easing of E-Visa policy both in terms of applicable subjects and duration will help attract more foreigners to visit the country and seek investment and business opportunities, creating a driving force to promote socio-economic development in general and the tourism industry in particular.
